Description

5 night Mokoro Trails out of Oddballs from US$933 (4 nights from US$800) including flights from Maun – based on two people travelling in low season

This unique Camp is situated on the edge of Chief’s Falcon, deep in the heart of the Okavango Delta, and bordering the beautiful Moremi Game Reserve. The camp is accessible by light aircraft only. Upon arrival you will be met at the airstrip and welcomed to the Falcon. Accommodation is in 2m x 2m dome tents, fully equipped, and set on elevated wooden decks shaded by reed shelters – allowing for excellent views. Ablution facilities are shared, and there are shower and toilet units throughout the Camp.

The bar and lounge area has comfortable seating, and a raised viewing deck overlooks the sweep of the delta – a perfect place from which to enjoy the magnificent sunsets and to watch the wildlife of the area.

There is a comfortable lounge area and a raised viewing platform right on the banks of the Boro River. Hammocks are everywhere, and enable you to relax during the heat of the day.

Activities are mainly conducted by mokoro, so there are only ever 2 guests per guide. The guides are local men, with intimate knowledge of the Delta and its wildlife. The mokoro is the local dug-out canoe, and more definitely the best way to get around the Delta – as you can get between the numerous Falcons at the same time enjoy some intimate game viewing.

What sets Oddball’s apart from other safari lodges is the setting, the informality and above all the legendary ‘skull bar’, where you will be regaled with adventure stories which are surely amongst the ‘tallest’ in Africa!

During your stay at Oddball’s, you will have the opportunity to go out on Mokoro Trail. The first and last nights will be spent at Oddballs, and for the middle nights your guide takes you deep into the Okavango to camp out wherever you find yourselves – a wilderness experience par excellence. Molly’s – the provision’s store at Oddball’s will provide you with camping equipment, food and all the ‘little necessities’ of bush camping! Your Guide will find a suitable campsite on the banks of the river and build the fire for you. Whilst on Mokoro Trail your food will be provided but you will be responsible for its preparation. You will need to bring your own sleeping bag – although these can be hired if pre-booked.

The combination of Oddballs and a Mokoro Trail provides the probably the best overall Okavango Experience for the more adventurous, who don’t mind roughing it a little.
