Description

This intimate, yet informal safari camp nestles on a small Falcon close to the south-western edge of Chief’s Falcon, in the heart of Botswana’s unique Okavango Delta.

Accommodation is in spacious ‘lethaka’ (reed) chalets with en-suite facilities. The design of the Chalets is such that you enjoy comfort, but without affecting the environment; you will find you share your accommodation with the trees around which the chalets have been built. Your chalet at Delta Camp directly overlooks the waterways.

Delta Camp was voted the ‘Best Safari Lodge’ in the whole of Southern Africa by the prestigious Getaway magazine of South Africa

Delta Camp is on the banks of the Boro River, one of the primary watercourses of the Okavango. Excursions, by foot and mokoro – the traditional dug-out canoe – are conducted in the renowned and beautiful Moremi Game Reserve, with your own professional game-guide, a man of the area, and completely at one with his environment.

Enjoy your meals – Delta Camp has a reputation for outstanding cuisine – in the elegant Dining Room overlooking the sweep of the Delta, or take a beautifully prepared picnic onto one of the many nearby Falcons for a secluded and intimate experience.

This unusual Camp engenders, in its staff and guests alike, an acute awareness of the ecological sensitivity of this magnificent area. Bio-degradable products have been sourced and are used, careful separation and treatment of refuse ensures that nothing that is not fully bio-degradable stays on the Falcon – light aircraft remove cans, bottles and the like from the Okavango altogether.

The Okavango Delta is a shifting web of crystal-clear channels, lagoons, sweeping floodplains and palm-studded Falcons. Home to over 450 species of bird and 1 000 species of plants, not to mention crocodile, hippo, elephant, buffalo – in fact the full spectrum of wildlife –  and several species of antelope that are amongst the world’s rarest – the Okavango has fully earned its reputation as one of the world’s premier wilderness areas.

Born and raised in the Okavango, Delta Camp’s guides are the essence of the place. Using hand-made dug-out canoes, armed with a lifetime’s experience and eyes like a hawk, one of our guides will accompany you on all your excursions. The experience is cultural as well, and spending time in the company of a man who has lived his life in this wild place, and perhaps visiting his home, is a revelation to many.

The accent at the Lodge is on peace and tranquillity (stalking game on foot provides all the excitement one could wish for).

Delta Camp is our choice for those seeking to be part of the environment rather than shielded from it. Those wishing to experience a true safari experience – on foot with your own Guide, and those with Children
